Summary:

The Production Manager is responsible for the overall management of production in the Slice Department. This position reports to the Operations Director and manages several supervisors. The Production Manager’s key challenge is to maintain production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labor cost, product rework, waste amounts and control of on-hold product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Planning, directing and coordinating the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives
Establish and control conditions of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications
Actively participate in standardization, cost reduction and ERP system protocols
Utilize interdepartmental collaboration to continuously improve training, SOPs and SSOPs.
Provide operations summary reports to company leaders
Work with MRP/Scheduling to develop and maintain efficient and streamlined production schedules
Organize and manage special project teams to drive operational improvements
Spend at least 30% of all daily activities on the production floor, managing and overseeing processes for all lines
Direct the production supervisors to execute the operating strategies and plans
Organize and direct workflow for satisfying production requirement in a cost-efficient manner
Investigate and analyze new procedures and processes
Develop and monitor KPI’s (key performance indicators) to drive productivity improvements and cost reduction that supports company profitability objectives
Audit Supervisor standard work documents to ensure compliance and to address training/performance opportunities
Using OEE system data, develop cost-effective alternatives and improvements to production process
Maintain employee safety and morale by creating a safe working and efficient environment
Ensure optimum staffing levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of personnel
Maximize the efficiency of production lines
All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

3-5 years of relevant operational or related experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, production management, or related field is preferred; Master’s Degree in business or production management is an added advantage
Prior manufacturing industry experience or exposure required with food manufacturing background preferred.
Superior organization, analytical abilities, detail orientation, and teamwork capabilities.
Exhibits strong self-motivation, results-focused with a positive attitude.
Successfully able to work independently under minimal supervision.
